Chicago is one of the largest cities in the United States. With just under 3,000,000 people it is an ethnically diverse neighborhood city, filled with great architecture and delicious food. The city is located on Lake Michigan and is known for its skyscrapers. Popular landmarks include Millenium Park (The Bean), Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, John Hancock Observatory, and much more.
Top Places to visit in Chicago, Illinois:
Millenium Park – This is where the bean statute is located. It’s nice to take a stroll and take pictures. There is also a lovely garden inside the park.
Lincoln Park: Chicago zoo is located here. Family-oriented neighborhood with tons of parks and shopping and restaurants.
This tour goes over the history of the architecture and buildings in Chicago, Illinois. Chicago has money and it’s in the loop. The boats have a bar with alcoholic drinks, plenty of restrooms and great views. $50-$60.
John Hancock Observatory. The lines are long. But it is worth the wait. I did the tilt as well. You get a panoramic view of the entire city. Price of entry ranges from $30-$35.
Chicago History Museum. This museum goes into great detail about the history of Chicago. $19 entry.
Best eateries in Chicago:
Batter & Berries – The food is delicious. There is always a wait so be sure to get on the Yelp waitlist as soon as they open to secure your spot.
Pearl’s Place which is a soul food restaurant in Bronzeville (South Side neighborhood).The wait was very long. There were also lots of arbitrary rules for dining in and it seemed a bit disorganized, but I did have a good time
Portillos – Local Chicago food. This restaurant is known for their Italian beef but there chicken sandwiches are really good too. This is a good cheap meal for those on a budget.
Giordanos – You can’t go to Chicago and not get deep-dish pizza. I got the spinach one as I don’t eat red meat. I’ve definitely never had anything like that in the best way possible.
Conclusion:
There’s so much to do in Chicago and more importantly so much to eat. Chicago should be on every traveler’s destination list.
